I lean into the open door and look at him with annoyance. I just want to go to my fucking cell and sleep the next four years away. Is that possible? Probably not. Damn guards and their wellness checks every hour. “What?”

Bryan is a felon that was on the Most Wanted List for five years before they caught him. According to his police records (which I had Sammy check for me) he raped six women and then killed them in New York. He’s not the kind of guy you want to piss off but at the same time- I’m wanting to be alone.

“You go see your wife yet?” He looks up at me from the bottom bunk of his two-fer cell. The guards don’t put another inmate in with him because he causes too many fights and he beat one man to death.

I was there that day when he did it too. And how did he kill the Murder Three inmate? With a fucking Bible. The blood was all over the place and the guards spent two hours searching all of our cells for Bibles. Of course, some of us have “special” ones but I’m not giving that one up. I have made a hole in the back of my bed that holds my stuff like that.

I shrug non committedly and look at him. He’s shimming out a cigar out of his pack that his bitch brought him (a guard, but he’s a fucking little bitch), and lights it. The top of his head is bald and he’s got more hair on his face than anywhere else. Want to know the sad thing about this? Women write him every damn day asking if they could marry him.

That’s some Charles Manson and Richard Ramirez shit right there.

“Yeah, I just spent the night and day with her,” I refuse to show that I’m melancholy over it. I miss her already and it’s fucking bull shit that I had to watch her leave while she was crying.

“My first wife came and visited me my first turn here. It sucked so much that they dangled it in front of my face and then made her leave. What sucked the most was that she disappeared after that first time.”

I charged towards him and got in his face. When I aligned myself with him, I stole a cigar and grabbed his lighter. After a deep breath, I calmed back down. I haven’t had a cigar in a fucking year. “Where did she go?”

He shrugs and sticks his cigar in his mouth. “We still don’t know.”

  I’m gonna kill this asshole.

  Two Months Later

  Savannah

I wake up with a start and look around the barren room. There is no longer any signs of Vincent and my life together in here because I couldn’t stand to look at the reminders anymore. The walls are empty except for a photo from our wedding and of our honeymoon.

Ronnie and Anne moved all of our couple photos to the couch room where I can go and look at them. I’m still not sure how they managed to collect so many pictures of us. There’s some of us at the beach where he first proposed and even some of us just playing in the pool together.

What’s so fucking special about today, you ask? Well, let me tell you. I swear to everything that is holy that I’m two months pregnant. I know, right? I haven’t had my period in the past two months and my breasts are killing me. Today is the day that I’m going to the doctor’s to get everything confirmed and I can’t wait to tell Vincent when I talk to him.

I feel something inside me shift and my heart beats faster. I can’t wait for the doctor’s appointment.

  Vincent

It’s been three months since Savannah had left me but I swear, I still smell her. She’s perfect in every way and I can’t believe that she’s married to me.

Luckily for me, today I get to meet with Sammy. Since he’s my attorney, we get to speak privately and I’m curious as to what is going on with the family. My visitations are limited so I haven’t fucking saw anyone in a long time.

  Especially my fucking wife.

There is a rattle on my door and I know it’s the guard that will take me to my meeting with Sammy. “Let’s go, Moretti.”

I place my hands between the grub hole and wait for him to shackle the handcuffs on to them so we can leave. The prison doesn’t worry about our ankles being cuffed anymore since it’s not too much of a risk to meet with your lawyer. I hate being cuffed.

“Come on, fucker. Let’s move it. I’m going to miss my rover.”

A rover in prison is that guard that gets to walk around all of the time and relieves other guards so they can go on break. From my understanding, many people want to be rovers because they don’t have to stay in the same place for their whole sixteen hour shift. What the fuck ever.

While shrugging off this punk kid’s attitude, I follow directions. There is no reason for me to get in trouble because I’m wanting to get out on good behavior.

I follow behind him to the room that holds Sammy. Once I’m in, the door slams and I turn to find him with a worried look on his face. “What’s up, caprone?” I ask and plop down in the seat across from him.

“Uh, Pop… This is something that’s not easy for me to say to you.” He’s bumbling and acting sketchy as hell.

With an annoyed attitude, I snap: “Just tell me. Did you handle the problem?”

“It has nothing to do with that problem. But yes, I did. The situation has been taken care of.”

  “How?”

Sammy twiddles with his thumbs and then looks at me with his eyes widened. “The construction site needed more bricks so we bought them. The walls have been newly constructed.”

“It’s about time that you got new bricks.” I feel the weight lift off of me but I look at him again and notice that he looks a little nervous. “Anything else?”

He looks up at the ceiling and his normally fatter face is slimming. “We haven’t had eyes on Savannah in over a week. Anne hasn’t seen her at work and she’s not answering her phone. We don’t know where the hell she is.”

Before I can even think about horning it in, I jump out of my seat and flip the table. “What are you fucking talking about, caprone?”

The table comes crashing down and Sammy is rounding where it landed to comfort me. “We will find her. Look, where could she have gone?”

My heart starts beating faster and I feel my breath coming quicker and quicker. My eyes start to pulse with adrenaline and I feel my blood getting hotter. I turn my anger and frustrations on my best friend. With my forearm, I have him against the cinderblock wall by his neck. “You lost my fucking wife. You lost my wife!” I scream in his face.

Sammy’s eyes bulge a lot and I see him trying to gasp for air. He pats my arm and I let him go. “We will find her,” he promises me again. “In the mean time, don’t do anything fucking stupid. You get yourself in trouble, I can’t do shit for you.”

I think about his wife and their kids together and how he gets to go home to them. “What would you do if it were you here and Valerie out missing? Tell me what you would do.” I make sure that my words are perfectly measured and spaced out for impact. I’m doing this mainly to keep myself from killing him.

He takes a minute to think about it and then straightens his shirt. “I would tap all my resources to find her.”

  *

I walk back to my cell about to fucking kill someone. How could she come up missing? I can’t think of anyone that could penetrate my alarm system that I have set up. Or anyone that would be brave enough to try.

“Yo, Moretti! Trouble in paradise?” Some hot shot guard hollers at me as I walk up the tier to my cell.

“Fuck off, man,” I mumble and walk straight to my cell and slam the door.

In retaliation to my cussing at him, the dumb ass turns the lights off in my cell. Which is fine by me.

Where could she have gone? I seriously have no idea where the hell she went and I’m starting to get worried. Somehow I need to make a call to see if Cherub is at home. I know for a fact that she wouldn’t have left that dog at home.

  *

A week has passed and I have kept to myself in my cell. I only leave for a few minutes and that is to call Savannah and then to call Rossi. I’m hoping that Savannah will answer her mother fucking phone but she doesn’t. And now, I’m hoping that Rossi will have
some idea as to where she is.

I look at our picture on my cell wall and remember what it feels like to bury my face in her hair and to hear her laughter. She is just so fucking beautiful but what’s in the inside is what I’m in love with. I love that she loves so hard and is such a caring person.

I swear to mother fucking god, that if something happens to that woman while I’m in here, I’m going to go fucking crazy. I need to get out of here ASAP. I need to find her. She’s out there somewhere and she’s probably scared out of her mind.

It’s been two weeks since anyone has heard from her and it’s been the longest two weeks of my life. Maybe if I would have called her more often, maybe she wouldn’t have been so lonely.

There’s a knock on my door and it’s the sergeant of the late shift outside. Well, I guess it’s night time. “Moretti. Get your shit on. You have twenty seconds to be at this door waiting to be shackled.”

I follow the direction, because I’m not in the position to get into anymore trouble. “What’s going on?” I ask as I feel the metal snap onto my wrists and ankles. My slippers slide on the freshly waxed floor and I walk out onto the top tier.

“We will discuss what’s going on when we get to our private room.”

We walk in silence with my elbow grabbed by Roger and then my other one is held by the sergeant. I’m starting to worry as to what is happening and I feel my heart beat faster. “Oh fuck me. Please tell me my wife is all right?” I demand and fight against them.

Suddenly Sammy is right there and he takes over holding on to me. “You are free for the next twenty-four hours. Be on your best fucking behavior while they let you go.”

“The next twenty-four hours? What are you talking about? Someone better tell me what the fuck is going on! Where’s my wife!”

My chest starts to pulse with anxiety and I feel myself panic even further. “Savannah’s in the hospital.”

A film falls over my eyes and I see only red. Someone is about to die. Did we not handle the Stilarno problem fast enough? I swear if he fucked up my wife, I will bring him back to life and kill himself.

  Anne

The first few days that Savannah didn’t show up to work, I didn’t worry too much about it. She’s going through a lot and I know that she misses Vincent a lot. Hell, if the situation were to be switched, I wouldn’t get out of bed.

LaVinia is running around the top floor of our house and is yelling: “Van Van!”

We moved shortly after we had our daughter because she deserved to have a yard to play in. Plus, I like that we have a house now. There’s more space and I love the multiple levels. Plus, we moved kiddy-corner to Savannah and Vincent’s backyard. Our backyards butt up to each other.

I feel Ronnie grip my shoulders in his big hands and I sigh. I’m staring at their house trying to see if there is any life in there. There hasn’t been a light turned on in over two weeks and she’s not answering the door. Every time I use my key to get in, she’s no where to be found. It’s almost as if she had truly disappeared.

“Anything new over there, honey?” Ronnie asks me as he holds my back to his chest.

As he kisses my hair I hum. “No. I don’t know where she is.”

He rocks us back in forth and then LaVinia comes running up with her arms spread. “Beach! Vin Vin go to beach?” She pretends to go swimming and then runs up to us with her arms up in the air. “Mom and papa, go beach? Vin Vin go to beach!”

And just like that. I know exactly where she is.

“Yes, Vin Vin is going to the beach!” I pick her up and then start walking for the stairs.

“Honey, where are you going?” Ronnie asks as he runs up behind me.

I keep running down the stairs with a squealing toddler. “Papa, beach!” LaVinia squeals like he should know.

“Call Leo. We are going to the Moretti’s lake house. She has to be there. I know it!”

Because if she’s not, then I have no idea where the hell she could be.

  Leo

“Oh fuck! Don’t stop sucking me, baby,” I murmur as I shove my hands into this brunette’s hair. She has me in the back of the throat and it feels so good, it’s not even a lie.

She looks up at me with brown eyes and winks. “Are you going to come?” She purrs around the head of my dick.

“Stop talking!” I can’t come if she’s talking.

I feel the tightening in my spine and the pulling feeling in my balls as I squirted my release in her mouth. She smiled at me as she swallowed it all and then licked her lips as if it were ice cream. I’m just like every other man and enjoy watching a woman swallow my load- but I’m not under false pretense of it tasting like ice cream.

Women all have a unique taste. Some taste sweet and others a little salty. However, I only put my mouth on women that I actually like. I’m thinking it’s because I view it as something so personal.

“You’re such a stallion,” she murmurs as she stands up and starts to unbutton her pants.

“What are you doing?” I demand and buckle my pants. I’m done with this and I’m ready for her to leave all ready.

The brunette looks at me as if I have two heads and then starts doing her pants back up. “You are such an asshole,” she says and starts for the door.

We are in the back of my car in the alleyway behind my bar and I know she knows who I am. The thing is, I haven’t been able to think of actually sleeping with a woman in a long time. There’s something about them that hasn’t been appealing to me.

And no. I’m not fucking gay. Go kill yourself for thinking that. Or better yet, wait there and I will do it for you.

The woman opens my car door and then lets herself out. Once it’s slammed, I get a call on my burner phone. “What?” I growl and hang my head in defeat. Each time I shove my dick into some chick’s throat, I hope I will be able to fuck her. It doesn’t work.

“Don’t be a dick, Leo,” Rossi’s voice comes through the line.

I have to show this man some mad respect since he’s the reason why I even got to jump into an administrative role. Most guys have to start with being a lackey, and I didn’t. It’s all because of Rossi.

“What can I do for you, old man?”

He chuckles and then I hear Anne and their daughter in the background. “We need you to go to the Hamptons right now. Savannah might be there.”

At hearing Savannah’s name, I jump out of the backseat and into my front. The reason why I’m getting the call is because my house is an hour away and I don’t have to fight all of the bullshit to get there. “She’s been there this whole time?” I ask quietly.

I’ve missed her so much the past few weeks but I’ve been mad at Pop. He fucked up big time by killing her ex like he did. If he would have let us handle it the way we wanted to, none of this would have happened. Joel would have swallowed some massive amounts of pills and then driven off a cliff.

  Boom. Problem solved.

No, Pop had to show his dick was bigger and finish him off in a big way.

I was there that day that he did it and I learned to never piss him off. If my having feelings for Savannah were noticeable, nobody said a word and I didn’t encourage it to be known.

I could only assume what Pop would do to me.

This is the last time that I’m following these assholes to a sit down where my life is being threatened. I have no idea why my name was even brought up but I’m fucking pissed. These fuckers think that they can drag me into it but I’m not going to deal with it.

“This is what’s going to happen,” Sammy said and looked across at all the members of the Dice. “We are taking matters into our own hands. Pop, go ahead.”

Vincent jumped out of his seat and grabbed Joel. As soon as his hands were on Joel, he grabbed his gun and aimed it at Stilarno. Once his gun was cocked he fired it at him. Stilarno dropped to the ground holding his arm. “Stay down! I will fucking kill you! This is not with you.”

Stilarno stopped thrashing and I saw him a
ccept that he’s been defeated. “Fine. Don’t make a mess.”

He let him go? I’m shocked as hell that Stilarno gave up his bargaining chip. We all know that with Joel being taken away with Pop, he wasn’t going to come back alive. Pop looked at him and tilted his head to the side and the other man caught the hint. He jumped up and ran out.

What a bunch of fucking pansies.

“Leo!” Sal yelled and pointed at me. I jumped up out of of my seat and shook off my daze. “You keep this gun pointed on those fuckers while we take care of Castile. You got me?”
